Professional Experience
Paul has been exposed to the construction industry since he was a toddler. As the oldest of six children raised in Lewiston , Maine he was literally surrounded by new housing developments. Growing up, his father, Donald LaRochelle,P.E., would bring him along to construction sites when possible and show him how construction progressed. When old enough, he was exposed to building plans by making reproductions at his engineering office. Later he worked in the summers on the company's land surveying crews starting as a rodman and over time becoming crew chief. While attending college in the summers and during vacations, he would be put to work assisting in drawing plans for construction. Eventually he became an assistant civil engineering designer and then a lead civil engineer. Working on site designs and structural designs interchangably as needed by the demands of the work load. He introduced CAD to the company in the early 1980's and lead on intergrating CAD into some projects. In the late 80's he became a vice president of the company and lead engineer in site and structural engineering designs. In the early 90's he became the owner and president of the company a multi-disciplined firm offering site, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering services. Paul is now continuing to use his expertise in providing design services as a team member. As projects develop, he coordinates with team members to provide design services as needed. As an independent consultant, he can work with owners, architects, engineers, designers and contractors providing insight and engineering guidance. Paul is always willing to learn new approaches and to keep up with industry standards. Over the years Paul has developed a deep insight into how design teams can work together to build successful projects. |
